Merger proposal VAWO and AOb available for viewing

15 October 2019 – After many good talks, initial introductions to staff and productive project groups, a merger proposal for the merger of VAWO and the General Education Association (AOb) is now available for inspection at the Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel). By doing so, the organisations comply with the legal requirement to inform potential creditors, among other things.

The reasons and consequences of the merger are set out in the merger proposal. Annual reports, annual accounts and interim figures for 2019 of VAWO and AOb have been added. The merger proposal is also available for inspection at the VAWO office in Culemborg and can be inspected on request.

Apart from this, the VAWO board has added an explanation to the merger proposal. This states that VAWO members and staff are central to the merger. For example, the current office staff will use their experience and expertise to shape the new academic sector (WO&O) together with the AOb. In addition, AOb values great importance to our representatives in the Local Consultative Committee (LO). The intention is that, in principle, they too will continue to fulfil their tasks.

In addition, the legal support for members will be better guaranteed. Last year, VAWO was forced to maximise the number of hours of support due to underutilisation of the office. If merged with the AOb, more extensive assistance can be provided if necessary, including the possibility of conducting legal proceedings with a lawyer. Together with AOb, we want to continue on the chosen path, in which we look after the interests of the members as well as working on a healthy academic environment. VAWO members can view the merger proposal at our office after registering by email at Finally, our members are very welcome at the general assembly of 29 November 2019.
